DAY 8 - The NOW, SOON, LATER Method: A Simple Way to Calm Decision Overwhelm

12 Days of Money, Mind and Meaning


People, women in particular, are often expected to have answers long before they have space.


To make decisions when they’re already overstretched.


To plan clearly while juggling emotional, mental and financial loads.


It’s no wonder overwhelm becomes a constant background noise.


Your brain simply cannot process everything at once.


This is where the NOW – SOON – LATER method becomes incredibly powerful.


Instead of trying to tackle all decisions simultaneously, you create three gentle containers that bring structure, clarity and relief.


NOW – supports your stability and security

These are decisions that stabilise your life today or this week.

They reduce pressure, improve wellbeing and give you room to breathe.


Examples:

  • paying a bill

  • replying to something time-sensitive

  • making a doctor’s appointment

  • choosing a realistic food shop

  • checking your balance before spending

  • resting because your body needs it

  • putting insurance in place for the things that you cannot afford to lose or you're trying to protect: life, health, income, capacity, wealth


These decisions support your present self.


SOON – supports your progress and growth

These decisions matter, but don’t need your full energy today.


Examples:

  • planning January’s budget

  • updating your subscriptions

  • reviewing savings goals

  • starting a financial habit

  • booking something you’ve been putting off

  • eliminating waste - time, energy, or money


These decisions support your next step.

You can start small - it'll still matter.


LATER – supports your future self - your freedom of choice

These hold importance but not urgency.


Examples:

  • reviewing insurance

  • updating a will

  • reviewing your retirement plan

  • investing

  • learning a financial skill

  • long-term planning

  • exploring career development


These decisions help you create options and choices for your future.

Plant little seeds. At your own pace. And let it grow.

Then sort them gently into

NOW

SOON

LATER.


Finally, choose one NOW item and focus on that - nothing else.
