12 Days of Money, Mind and Meaning

We rush into planning the next year with colour-coded goals, fresh notebooks, and a hopeful sense that this time we’ll do things differently.
But before any of that matters, there’s a powerful first step that almost everyone skips.
Look back.
Before you look forward.
And the simplest way to do that?
Open your camera roll.
Yes, really.
Your camera roll is one of the most honest storytellers you have.
It shows where your time, energy, attention, love and money have actually gone. It highlights what mattered, what connected you, and what carried you through.
For many women, especially those who hold households, care for others, have careers, and perform emotional labour, the year can feel like one long sprint.
The overwhelm makes the wins harder to see. The pressure makes the meaningful moments blur. And the voice of “I didn’t do enough” rings far louder than anything true.
But your phone knows better.
When you scroll, you’ll find:
• the smile you forgot happened
• the meal that cost nothing but fed your soul
• the walk you took when you nearly gave up
• the friend who made you laugh
• the sunrise you promised yourself you’d remember
• the tiny moment your child, your partner, your pet… saw the best in you
• the piece of yourself you thought you’d lost, captured in a frame
These moments didn’t make your to-do list.
They didn’t show up on your productivity tracker.
But they’re the real proof of your resilience, your values, and your heart.
Today’s action
Find three moments from this year that cost nothing but meant everything.
Save them. Name them. Honour them.
These three pictures can become your anchor.
Your evidence.
Your reminder that you’re already more capable and braver than you think.
As we move through these 12 days together, carry those images with you.
They’ll help you plan from a place of truth, not pressure.
Please share this with someone who needs a softer, kinder start to their year-end reflections.
Tomorrow, we’ll explore the gift of learning from the year’s messy bits.
